As the title says, we got our first 3 or 4 2021 TLXs at the dealership. Haven’t taken one for a spin yet but I’ll update this post when I do (Probably tomorrow? Waiting for PDI to finish ).

We currently have 2 A-SPECs and 1 or 2 Platinum Elites (top model in Canada).

Does it feel like a luxury brand to sit in? I always thought our RL was a pretty nice place to place to spend a road trip, but most of the field thinks Acuras in general feel to o much like Hondas.

If only there was some place we could “test drive” an A-spec....

I actually look forward to seeing one IRL. big step forward for Acura

The 2019 - up and this TLX have distanced themselves from Honda and past Acuras. It’s no bentley, but it’s befitting the price and the brand. Metal looking things are metal, wood is wood, etc. It’s nice, and it’s functional (HVAC buttons, Touchpad works well once you get used to it).

Doubt I’ll be able to make that event with the little one, and I’m not sure we’ll have enough stock for long term test drives. I have been told I will get to take on for a day, but that could take a couple months.

The new interior is a nice change, and I’ve grown to love the new touc hpad, but they have cut noticeable corners in the new interior compared to the ‘11 and ‘15.

How so? The materials are leagues better than the previous years.

Our A-Spec is red so far, should have another A-Spec arriving tomorrow.

It’s the little things that make a big difference. The new seats are an improvement, and they don’t have that large plastic bezel around the controls that tended to crack. The cooling is nice too.  They are a sharper style with the cut-out.

The leather itself...I’d say the TL had the most premium feeling leather, but the alcantara panels in the new A-spec are very nice.

The new cup holders (yeah I know) are hard plastic without the springy jaws...so if you have a S’well bottle or anything harder than a paper cup, they rattle around. The other thing is the glove box isn’t carpeted anymore. If you have something like a lug nut key or a wine corkscrew or pens etc, they rattle around in there too.

The glossy black plastic gets goo’d up pretty easily compared to the old brush aluminum and flat plastic.

Anyway, it’s all first world issues.  The materials have always been top notch even back to the TL and, of course the new infotainment system is a good upgrade from the old dual-screen now that they have the bugs worked out.

Only the platinum elite has the high end leather, the a-spec is fake leather with ultra suede. You’ll need to check out the top model for those materials to be the best options. I will say for its MSRP , the leather feel is fine. Remember that even the most basic upgrades on a Audi, bmw, or merc will push you welllll pay the TLX price.

I meant to say 2019 - up RDX.

I agree on the value. I had the highest trim level TL and TLX and the value compared to the Germans was why I started buying Acura in 2011. The new interior is better from a design and technology standpoint , but as I say, there are fundamentals, like I noted, that they have dropped the ball on.

FYI, there is cup holder springs, but just 2 per cup not 4.

Yeah I saw that.  The center console is different between the RDX and TLX.  Now I’m looking into whether or not i can swap the TLX insert into the RDX...lol
